Qazi Hamid al-Din Abu Bakr ibn Omar ibn Mahmud Balkhi
Hamid al-Din Balkhi was a sixth-century AH judge, man of letters, and prose writer best known for Maqamat-e Hamidi. He served as chief judge in Balkh and was connected with poets such as Anvari in the city’s literary milieu. Maqamat-e Hamidi contains twenty-four maqamas and is a leading example of ornate, highly rhetorical Persian prose of the sixth century.
