Biography
Fath Ali Shah Qajar
The second Qajar monarch was deeply interested in poetry and literature alongside politics and government and wrote verse under the takhallus Khaqan. His court became an important center of patronage for poets of the Persian literary revival. Several thousand verses survive in a divan containing ghazals, qasidas, masnavis, rubaiyat, and tarkib bands.
