Fakhr al-Din As'ad Gorgani

Biography

Fakhr al-Din As'ad Gorgani was a fifth-century AH poet and storyteller and the author of the romantic narrative Vis o Ramin. He transformed an older story rooted in the Middle Persian tradition into Persian verse, producing one of the major narrative works of Persian literature in a fluent and relatively unornamented style. Apart from Vis o Ramin and a few scattered verses, no other work is securely known. He is believed to have died after 446 AH.
